finding a mentor

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just started a new job as an outpatient internal medicine PA.  I've never worked in this setting, and I'm wondering if there are resources for learning from docs/other PAs who have worked in the field.  I hate to bug the doc I work with about every little question, and I feel it would be helpful to go over some things with a mentor.  I'm finding that UpToDate, Currents, etc. are great, but need help with real-life patient encounters - i.e. dealing with patients who demand antibiotics and such.

I would try either my state PA organization, find a hospitalist PA nearby, or ask one of the legions of drug reps for the names of some of the more experienced PAs they interact with. In the interim, it's better to bug the doc than make a serious mistake.
