browndog
Okay folks....I could use some advice. I am working EM as an NP and would like to increase my knowledge and skill set. I am considering the following options: West Virginia EM Certificate, ACNP (I am a critical care nurse who chose the FNP over the ACNP at first to increase my marketability in the ED.), or just taking courses that could benefit my learning without a degree attached. I have no intention of pursuing the DNP (clinically useless) unless it becomes a hireability issue in the marketplace. Has anyone pursued the WV EM Certificate?? What do you guys think? The WV program sounds interesting, but the ACNP would result in a dual cert. I wish I had pursued the PA route initially but that ship has sailed. Thanks, browndog
marilynpac
I would go with the dual cert, and don't readily brush aside the DNP, you may want to open your own practice someday...never say never...
browndog
Thanks marilynpac. I see your point with the cert. At least I am getting something with "tangible marketability" with the ACNP, whereas, while the West Virginia program may be solid, it probably provides less "real world" value. Umbach
Just refreshing this topic to see if anyone has any good information to share about this program. How much more do you feel you get from this program vs doing a self study on your own?
