BUYING INTO A PRACTICE OR PARTNERSHIP IN BOISE

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was wondering if any practicing PA's could help me out with some information.  I am thinking of relocating to Boise and have a few questions regarding how PA's work there in Boise.  I have a friend that is a nurse practitioner who stated that you have to buy into a practice when you go to work for them.  She was unclear in that, if it was all private practices and offices or simply some.  I know that St. Lukes and St. Al's are busily buying up all the private practices and offices around the area so this may eventually be a mute point.  However, I still would like some clarification on this if it is true. And if so, how is the buy in process handled?   In other words is it an initial lump sum purchase or you work it off over time or percentage of RVU’s.  Secondly anyone working for aforementioned hospitals please chime in as well, and shed some light as to how they contracting for PA’s and how PA friendly they are, hourly vs salary information and how they handle call for PA’s.  As I understand it St. Al’s pays better, but as we all know money isn’t everything.  All information is appreciated.  Thanks.

I am not a PA yet but I work for St Al's. Both hospitals own a lot of the market for primary care and other specialties but there are a lot of private practices in town as well that are not necesarily owned by them. It is a growing community with lots to offer as far as great life style, outdoors and safety.

This is the number for HR at St. Als they have PA recruiters that can give you some insight about how the hiring process and contract works (208) 367-2149. I know some PA's are salary and others are take lower salaries and RUVs to increase their income they get benefits such as medical insurance, life insurance, 403B (401k for non-profit), dental and eye insurance. I would start out by calling the HR departments from both hospitals to verify. Best wishes!  I cannot wait to come back to Boise when I get done with school.

      Hey all!

I'm currently a pre physician assistant student studying health sciences at Boise State. I'm looking to apply for PA school in the next couple of years. I've been looking around for PAs to shadow in the Boise area but haven't really had any luck. If anybody on here that is either a PA in the area or knows of one that would be willing to let me follow them around for a while as to get a better understanding of what it is like in the day of life of a PA and would send me a message on here that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

      Hey all!

My name is Monica Laguna and I am currently a first year physician assistant student at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. I am interested in moving to and practicing in Idaho after graduation in August 2016 and if it is at all possible, I would like to set up some clinical rotations for my second year (2015-2016) in the Boise, ID area.

If there is an currently practicing MD, PA, or NP that is willing to precept a student in the Boise area, please let me know! I have documents that are readily available if you need further information on my program or myself.

      Thank you for your help!
