Plan B: past MD degree, starting PA school?

oops, my bad. I thought because you could apply for residency without step 2 that you could wait to take it until intern yr.

Step 2 is required for graduation from med school. There are 2 parts--CE/CK (clinical knowledge) and PE (basically the same concept as the now-extinct PE portion of PANCE). CE/CK costs about $650 and $1250 plus travel and hotel costs for PE...prohibitively expensive to replicate that for DO students by taking USMLE in addition to COMLEX. I considered taking the step 2 CE USMLE as well but just ran out of money. There is no reason to take both PEs.

I think step 3 is upwards of $1300 as well. Fortunately most residency programs pay for that.

I feel soooooo poor...yeesh.
