elizadc Posted November 11, 2013 I'm debating between Samuel Merrit University or Foothill. Can someone share their experiences with any of these schools? I would like to know who were able to jobs after graduation
Moderator EMEDPA Posted November 12, 2013 Moderator foothill is actually the stanford program. sam merritt and stanford are looking for very different types of students. Stanford wants folks with significant high level prior experience measured in thousands of hrs.(min 3000). their prereqs are common sense things: Human Anatomy with Lab (4 Semester units or 5 Quarter units)* Human Physiology with Lab (4 Semester units or 5 Quarter units)** For combined Human Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) classes, a full academic year curriculum is required. All combined coursework for A&P must total at least of 8 semester units or 15 quarter units. Microbiology with Lab (4 Semester units or 5 Quarter units) Introductory Chemistry (3 Semester units or 4 Quarter units) Intermediate Algebra (3 Semester units or 4 Quarter units) English Composition - English 1A or equivalent. (3 Semester units or 4 Quarter units) Introduction to Sociology or Introduction to Cultural Anthropology (3 Semester units or 4 Quarter units) Introduction to or General Psychology (3 Semester units or 4 Quarter units) merritt focuses more on grades and coursework, requiring things like stats and ochem etc.: Prerequisite courses: A minimum of 16 semester units of biological sciences are required including human anatomy*, human physiology* and microbiology*. The remaining units can be in any area of the biological sciences. A minimum of 8 semester units of chemistry* are required. This must include 4 semester units of Inorganic Chemistry and 4 semester units of Organic Chemistry. Statistics (three semester units) they only require 1000 hrs of HCE

Corpsman2PA Posted November 14, 2013 Go for Stanford/Foothill if you can. Everybody (around CA) knows that they get the high HCE cats. Of course, not as much as UW/Medex ;) Like EMEDPA said, VERY different group of applicants.
Moderator EMEDPA Posted November 14, 2013 Moderator also consider touro in vallejo and SJVC in visalia.
