how many years does it need to complete residency?

I am interested in cardiothoracic surgery, dermatology, and maybe pain management,

how many years of residency do these specialty usually take? and whats the salary range when you are in residency?

First off understand that residency is not required to practice in any of those fields.

The average residency is 12 months.

Pay ranges from 40s to 70s.

thank you, i asked the question cause i was thinking if a PA with specialty would make more and know more after they are done with residency

You'll know more if you put the time in to read and do as much as you can while in residency.

You'll make more if you know how to market your residency experience to future employers (so few know much about PAs, and even less about postgrad PA training...you have to sell yourself).

 

If you want to do a sub specialty I would recommend it.
