Interesting find of atherosclerosis in 'common' mummies

Recommended Posts

I saw this headlined by the news last night, and my first thought was that the mummies were all the sedentary royals of ancient Egypt. It is interesting that they found atherosclerosis in active hunter/gatherers. I think this just shows that the human body will break down overtime, no matter what we do. Exercise and healthy diet will not allow someone to live forever, but can help slow heart disease and sarcopenia. Hopefully people do not use these findings as an excuse to ignore working for a healthier lifestyle.
