akdEM Posted February 10, 2013 There is a lot of talk these days of residency being the way to go if you want to be competitive in emergency med. I'm giving it some serious thought, and wondered if anyone on here had some firsthand experiences they wouldn't mind sharing. I've read all the program websites, but I wanted to hear a real life account. I'm curious about quality of life (will I work 100 hrs a week?) and what a typical day looks like. I know that each program is probably different, but any insight would be really helpful.
rcdavis Posted February 10, 2013 Search for "true anomaly", forum member. As a young PA he entered, blogged about and completed a PA EM residency. You will find most of the answers you want in his reports from the residency experience. If you have the time and a true desire to do EM, a residency is the way to go. It seems to be the only sure fire way to sty employable in EM in the next 5-10 years. Good luck
akdEM Posted February 10, 2013 Author Thank you! That is exactly what I was hoping to find. It sounds like quite a ride... Here's the link to the thread if anyone is interested.
