Decipher13
Hi all. New here. So, I'm working on my undergrad and I've recently started looking into PA programs for my post graduate work. I'm in the process of taking pre reqs, hunting volunteer opps, trying to learn more about the profession, and finding a job shadow. The Nurse Practitioner that I see offered to shadow me, but I'm not sure if many PA schools would accept a job shadow with an NP. Advice? If it helps, the number one school choice I'm looking into is South College in Knoxville, followed by UAB, Nazarene Trevecca, and maybe University of South Alabama. South College does not specifically say anything on their website regarding shadowing, other than they expect three letters of recommendation, one of which has to be from an MD, DO, PA, or NP. PM2PA
I don't think it would hurt, but you definitely will need to shadow a PA. You can probably use the NPs connections to find a PA to shadow and go from there.
Decipher13
Thanks! I found a PA in town that works in dermatology, a field in which I'm interested. I have not received a response from her though.
