ajen21
Currently a Junior in my undergraduate studies, hopeful to finish with a degree in Biology. Unfortunately my first year of college my parents got divorced and with 2 younger siblings I was forced to focus more on their well being then on my studies. This hurt my GPA a good amount. Im also a student athlete, however since then I have been doing much better but my first year is still weighing my GPA down quite a bit. Im at a 2.7 right now, my science GPA is about a 3.0 and I am a certified nurse's aide with have about 500 hours of direct patient care. Looking to apply to PA school 2 summers from now and feeling really discouraged about my chances of getting in. Any advice?
Timon
Hey, life happens. I'm sorry to hear of your parents divorcing. I'm sure you're a stronger person now as a result. You have a 2.7 GPA. It's not the end of the world and you have 2 more years to raise your GPA so get cracking! You control your fate. Do well to raise your GPA. Look at getting a "B" as if it's a "F" and do whatever you can to get "A's." You're getting paid HCE so that's a plus. Get some volunteering and shadowing in over the next 2 years to also strengthen your application. Wipe the slate clean today and start fresh / focus forward. ajen21
Your story is really inspiring. Sometimes things can get so overwhelming and it's really hard to stay motivated, especially when you have really high expectations for yourself. Thank you so much!!
