anneham Posted January 21, 2024 Hey everyone! My name is Alyssa Hamel and I’m an Emergency Medicine PA-C. In 2016, I graduated UCF with a bachelors degree in Health Sciences/Pre-Clinical. I was a FOUR time applicant to PA school (due to a low GPA). I attended Nova Southeastern in Orlando, class of 2022. In my interview, the faculty asked 15 different ways how I’d make it in PA school after displaying such a low GPA. While this encounter shook my confidence slightly, perseverance is everything. I have never been the smartest person in the room, far from it actually. But I will always be one of the hardest working, if not the hardest working. Fast forward, I became president of my class and graduated with highest honors with a job lined up in EM prior to graduating. Don’t ever doubt your abilities, just work hard and the rest will follow!! If I can do it, literally anyone can. Four cycles worth of applying afforded me the opportunity to pursue a wide range of pre-PA experience. I was a physical therapist tech, a medical scribe in the ED, a medical assistant at a cardiac clinic + an EMT at an urgent care. I also finished Paramedic school the day before before starting PA school. I'm extremely passionate about mentoring and helping pre-PAs and PA-S students on their own journey to PA-C. I am currently offering a FREE shadow series. Visit my PA page for more information: https://www.instagram.com/journey2pa_c/ journey2pa_c Quote
