How to choose academic status- dual enrollment student

Recommended Posts

I was having some issues with how to classify academic status when doing transcript entry. TIA for any insight if anyone was also in dual enrollment!!

About me: I did dual enrollment in high school and earned about 90 credits from a community college. I then went to a 4-year college and completed my bachelors degree in 3 years. I am unsure how to list my academic status for those semesters. It seems for the dual enrollment I should list as freshman, but am unsure how to do the next part.

3 options

1. Go based on total credit (ie including the dual enrollment credits I took at a community college). Thus would have all my semesters at the university I did my bachelors labeled as senior.

2. Ignore dual enrollment credits. Thus would not reach senior status as I took around 80-90 credits at my bachelor's university.

3. Go based on CASPA's non-traditional "label their terms as evenly as possible in chronological order" which I really do not know what it means. Do Freshman for dual enrollment then sophmore-senior for my 3 years at the univeristy??

This is directly from CASPA

  • Freshman-Senior: Applies to all college- or university-level courses taken prior to your first bachelor's degree. In general, four-year students should list one year per designation and five-year students should list their last two years as senior. Non-traditional students should label their terms as evenly as possible in chronological order.
    • Dual enrollment courses (college courses taken during high school) are considered Freshman and should be listed under the college where you took them. Do not report these courses again as transfer credits at your undergraduate institution.
