TheNags
Hi everyone, I am having a bit of trouble deciphering a few things about the UW degree option with the MEDEX program. I have been a military medic for about 3 years now, and an EMT for 5. I have taken almost all the pre requisites listed on the MEDEX site, and when I click the link for the UW requirements it seems very minimal compared to other colleges accepting a transfer to a degree program. Am I missing something with the UW page, or looking in the wrong area? All I have been able to find are the CADR and I can't seem to find anything specific to the bachelors with the MEDEX program. Any help would be appreciated! :) Steve
ToppDog
There are probably three different areas you want to check out to get the final answer on all the classes you would need: First, you must meet all the pre-req's (which you already know about & are working on) http://www.washington.edu/medicine/som/depts/medex/applicants/bchs_prerequisites.htm Second, after you get into MEDEX you can apply for admission to UW if you meet their minimum entry requirements http://www.washington.edu/medicine/som/depts/medex/applicants/bchs_uwadmissions.htm Third, to get the BCHS degree you have to have all of these classes done (many of your pre-req's & classes needed to gain admission to UW, along with the PA program itself count towards these requirements). http://www.washington.edu/medicine/som/depts/medex/applicants/bchs_gradrequirements.htm Hope that helps. If it seems light compared to other schools then I guess we're lucky :)
mistercire
Amy Norton is a great resource for determining if the CADR requirements have been met. She works specifically with the transfer for MEDEX students. Shoot her and email. Aehr@uw.edu
TheNags
Thanks for the info!! It is exactly what I am looking for. I have just gotten into this formal education deal, and it is a bit overwhelming sometimes. I went to medic school, and they didn't give any options of what classes to take, what was recommended, and what was useless. At the CC I am going to the counselor just seems to think that if its not a Cal State school it is no longer her job, and I am SOL on trying to find anything. I really appreciate the info and hopefully I can apply soon :) Steve
