Enrollment agreements/Deposits for Multiple Programs

I recently received a acceptance. I am obviously going to accept and pay the deposit as I wait to hear back from other schools. Before accepting, want to confirm that it isn't against the rules to pay a deposit and sign an enrollment agreement if I am still waiting to hear back? If I heard back from my top choice and forfeited my seat at the first school I paid a deposit for thats allowed right? On caspa website it says you must notify programs of your enrollments within 5 days and remove yourself from consideration - I interpreted this as enrollment meaning I began classes but want to make sure that interpretation was correct. Anyone who was in a similar position have advice??

Yes, you can do that.  However, if you switch to another program you will lose the deposit you made to the 1st program.
