ascience19
I've gotten my dream offer, YAY! Everything in the contract is great besides the excessive noncompete. It is for 3 years from 50 miles of any of their locations. They have 6 locations spanning every limit of my city. I would have to move to a different city to get past the 50 miles (which I do not want to do). Should I just accept the noncompete as I am planning on staying with the company and it is my dream specialty, derm. Or should I ask them to reduce the mileage to 20-25 miles? I don't want them to think I am going to leave them after training. I can't imagine this would hold up in court but I do not want to have to find out. AbeTheBabe
Does it limit you to derm or any job? What state are you in? Look at your state non compete clause rules.

AbeTheBabe
Looks like Florida allows non-competes but it has to be reasonable, whatever that means. You can always talk to a lawyer. Even if you have them limit it to 25 miles sounds like you'd still have to move to get another job. Maybe if they can limit it to only the clinic you will be working at? Maybe if they can limit it to only the clinic you will be working at? I might be able to work with 25 miles. That would be a good idea. My contract states 3 clinics that are somewhat close to each other towards the south end of my city. The other clinics are not stated in my contract but I was verbally told I may be able to work in those at some point since they are closer to my home. Its a one year contract so my other idea is to renegotiate the noncompete mileage after a year.
