Graduate certificate in infectious disease: helpful for admission or waste of time/$?

Recommended Posts

I am almost to the end of my prereqs, and I'm considering my next move. I was considering a graduate certificate in emerging and infectious diseases, like one of these:

Georgetown graduate certificate in Biohazardous Threat Agents & Emerging Infectious Diseases

University of St. Joseph Emerging Infectious Disease certificate

I have great interest in infectious diseases. But I'm not sure if these certificate programs would help me, or if they would be a waste of money. I won't repeat all my stats here again, but, in brief:

B.A. degree in journalism with an emphasis in European studies

cGPA: 3.42

scienceGPA: 3.55

HCE hours: 3,700

I cannot get more HCE or apply to PA school right now. We're overseas right now, and I'm waiting until we get back to the States to apply for school. My main priority is to be as competitive as I can be when I do apply.
