PAstudentCanada
As PAs are new in Ontario, our Ministry of Health is going to be funding several positions to start in the late fall. My class, however, finishes school in two weeks and so I wanted a job for the next few months until the Ministry contracts are announced. My family medicine preceptor offered to help me out and give me work for a few months but said he doesn't really have a need for a PA. He asked me how PAs are paid and he said he could pay me a percentage of the billings I generate (we have socialised medicine where physicians bill the government. Average billing for the majority of family medicine visits is about $33.00 per visit but we can bill more if we see patients past 5pm). He has asked me to say what percentage I should get and I am not sure what to answer. What do you all suggest? Also, everything I do will have to be through medical directives, any advice on what I absolutely must have included in that? Any advice at all regarding any of this? Any family medicine PAs who would be willing to chat with me and give me advice? I am not even sure what to ask at this point. Any help at all is appreciated. PAstudentCanada
Bump. Anyone? Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated, please. Not just on salary but on how things should function with me as a new grad. Any advice is appreciated! :)
