reticulocyte
can anyone provide insight on their experience as a PA student or as a practicing PA with NHSC? I was hoping for information on experiences with counseling during school before graduation from NHSC, PA-MD relationship at the sites, experiences in a rural setting as a fresh grad, salary, etc. Is there anyone unable to work at their preferred site because of COVID or now are limited in opportunity? Did you decide to stay at your site even after contract ended? thanks in advance! Edited September 22, 2020 by reticulocyte
Jminugh
Hi there! I am a current PA-S1 (half way through my didactic year) and I received the NHSC scholarship in October. I do not have too much insight on after PA school stuff but I do know how amazing it is financially. The stipend they give us with taxes taken out is about $1,300 per month and they give you a one time lump sum amount annually for books/scrubs/equipment. They pay for literally everything and they definitely are not on top of you with pressure at all so far. I am so thankful that I got it and so far it seems 100% worth it to have this level of financial security. Would highly recommend applying if you haven't yet! I would like to apply this the NHSC scholarship for PA school and I would love to ask you more questions about the process and how it is currently going. I don't know of anyone who applied to the scholarship.
