What is the day to day work life like?

What kind of procedures can you do in outpatient clinics?

Outpatient GI is pretty much internal medicine. And often times we pick up a ton of slack from the PCPs. Lots of medical management, imaging, labs, meds, sending to endoscopy of course. Brightest days-curing hepatitis. Easy days-Colon screenings, gerd, dysphagia, Darkest days-finding cancer. Annoying days-IBS, IBD, and cirrhotics.

Rectal exams, anoscopy, and if your SP really likes you...hemorrhoidal banding. Rarely have anything to do with endoscopy.
