winterallsummer
I am trying to get in a positive mindset of working in family practice in rural America. The reason being that I want to do family practice and I also want to work at an NHSC site. Can anyone recommend a book written by a PA or MD who has practiced in the country and wrote about it? jazzyjoker
Not sure about books but the movie "Doc Hollywood" with M.J. Fox would be a good start. Sorry, I just had to do that. :=-0:
JCrownover
You can try 'Doc' by RE Losee. He is long retired but I read half the book for a paper during school (and I did my primary care rotation at that clinic) and I found the book to be pretty cool. winterallsummer
Oh god. He settled in a log cabin. I was hoping for something more modern :(. Thanks for the recommendation. I am hoping to find something a little more contemporary but I will still check it out.

Piper
I really liked "My Own Country: A Doctor's Story" by Abraham Verghese. Don't know if Johnson City, TN qualifies as rural, but it is a good read.
