Job Search and Licensure question

Recommended Posts

I am currently on the hunt for a new job and willing to relocate for the right one... my field is pretty specialized so geographically I am looking almost everywhere. I have 4-ish postings that I am interested in, each in a different state. I'd really like to avoid applying for a license in each state unless I get an interview. Is this an ok thing to do? And if so, should I put anything in my resume about it or just use my current license?

I am sure jobs would prefer to have someone who already is licensed in their state, but if you truly specialized then the applicants will likely be pretty slim as well and it is likely having someone come in with experience is worth that transition.  I would not apply for licensing in all four states personally and instead ride my positive resume and letters of recommendation.
