dumbledore
Did anyone drive to LHU while it snowed? Did you need snow chains? I'm planning to rent a car from Pittsburgh, but I'm concerned that it might snow when I drive over there.
papah
Chains rarely needed in the region where you'll travel (i.e. Pgh to LHU). If concerned, ask for a car that is competent in the snow (e.g. all-wheel-drive or a Volvo). The Laurel Highlands, the stretch of Rt 22 between Blairsville and Altoona, can get dusty during winter months, but generally the surface is dry. You should be fine. Just relax and enjoy the drive. laurabelle
I agree. I'm from that general area and the only time we've ever needed to use a chain was when my school bus couldn't get up an icy hill. haha You'll be fine!
