springpearl Posted June 14, 2016 I need to renew my DEA license. Do we have to have Michigan State Controlled Substance License to renew DEA license? Also what do I need to do in order to add schedule II to my DEA license? Please help!
Michigander Posted June 14, 2016 My understanding is that only physicians have Controlled Substances licenses in Michigan. To add Schedule II to your license, I would think you would just get a new form signed by you and your SP with all the classes of controlled substances they want you to be able to prescribe. At my job both of us signed a letter with license numbers and her DEA# and sent it to the DEA listing "Schedule II, Schedule II limited, Schedule III..."
rrt2pa Posted January 28, 2017 FYI this will change now March 2017 with the new Public Act 379 law. PA's are no longer 'designated' prescribers working under a supervising physician which meant both the PA's & the Dr's DEA # had to be on schedule II-V scripts. Any PA writing for any scheduled meds now has to have their own DEA & Controlled Substance License. There are a couple other changes that comes with this law & if you're a member of MAPA; they break down the new requirements nicely on their website.
