NicholeMF87
Hey all!! So I know CASPA calculates and averages grades submitted, based on what they send the school...do the schools auto reject based on what CASPA says or do they review all applications once they have been sent to them?? Thank you!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
loliz
Schools get hundreds to thousands of applications. The first step of screening is meeting the minimum requirements. If you do not meet minimum requirements, you should assume that your application will not get reviewed. Yes- CASPA calculation is used.
NicholeMF87
Thanks but my question is, do the schools review the applications themselves or just auto reject based on caspa calculations Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
AliB
Yes, as loliz SAID, they auto reject based on CASPA calculations ... unless, POSSIBLY, they are one of the FEW schools that also does grade replacement (know of one that does this) ... and/or if they are one of the FEW schools that gives 'credit' for GPA for most recent X hours (there are a couple that do this). AND, some schools have administrative staff that do review the application materials for meeting the minimum requirements as far as HCE hours or pre-requisites, so, while it's not CASPA grade calcs, you can be "auto-rejected" before your application gets to the Admissions Committee. And finally, even the schools that have GPA minimums and don't reject your application based on CASPA calculations because it does or doesn't meet their minimum ... may STILL not bother to give your application to the Admissions Committee ... if the Admissions Committee has decided on a higher minimum than previously published (probably due to the sheer number of apps received; THIS happened to me). If you are asking whether CASPA checks your GPA for the schools' minimums, no, they do not; they do their calculations and if you pay your $ and select a school and the school's deadline hasn't passed, they notify the school that your application is ready to for the school to download and consider. After that, how the school screens the applications is entirely up to the school and their process isn't typically published. It varies widely. NicholeMF87
Thank you! I was JUST looking for some clarity as to how schools do things. I obviously wouldn't apply to a program without the grades, bachelors degree and hours required but I was just curious how everything works Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
