charle007
Does this sound reasonable? I have tried comparing this to the AAPA's site and also with other PA job oppertunities. Jus need input from my big brother and sister PA's out there, on how this offer sounds
Jason09
What specialty is this? Is the CME week part of the vacation time or an additional week off? I did a ROUGH calculation of the per hour rate you will receive if you work 90,000/2350= $38.2 per hour (2350= 47 weeks (52 - 5 weeks sick and vacation time) x 50 hours per week (minimum number probably will end up being more time). I understand you are on salary but wanted to give you an idea. The per hour rate is ok for a new grad but just a heads up 50+ hours a week could get old very fast. Another thing to ask is what type of malpractice do you receive? Is there a tail when you leave that will be provided for you? Otherwise the offer sounds pretty good just long hours. Just my opinion. marilynpac
I have a gut feeling you're going to be working at least 12hr days....just a feeling. Is this gen surg? Ortho?
charle007
Sorry guys this is a Neuro-Surg position. THis is the table offer so far from a phone screening type interview. I will be having the face 2 face interview in a couple of weeks. is there anything i should ask for or inquire about?
Jason09
I would recommend speaking with PAs already working there to get the "low down" on what a typical work week consists of. This just sounds fishy to me and I suspect you will be working much longer then you think like marilynpac had mentioned. I would also inquire about job duties/ responsibilities. This could be one of those positions that recruits new grads for a lot of scut work for 1-2 years then find another new grad when the old one gets tired of being abused. Don't want to scare you away from the position just know ahead of time what you are getting into.
