If you're not someone who has to have everything written down, just use your Google calendar. We actually have our entire schedule uploaded to our Outlook calendar by our faculty. Everyone in our class used a planner heavily in the first 2-3 weeks of class and I haven't seen anyone open one since then. There simply isn't a need.
