LESH
Its a sad day in Trojan nation as we mourn the loss of one of our founding fathers of the Primary Care Physician Assistant Program at USC. Dr. Gail V. Anderson Sr., M.D. passed away from complications of pneumonia this past week in Pasadena, CA. Dr. Anderson was responsible for founding the emergency medicine specialty, despite being an obstetrician. He was appointed as the first Chair of Emergency Medicine at LAC+USC Medical Center and helped build the specialty to what it has become. In 2011 he was honored by having the LAC+USC Medical Center Emergency Department renamed "The Gail Anderson, M.D. Department of Emergency Medicine" after his years of dedicated service. There will be a memorial service in Aresty Auditorium in the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center on Friday September 19, at 11 AM. The family requests donations to the Gail V. Anderson, Sr., M.D. Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers. Please contact Stephanie Cypert at 323-442-2352 for information about donations.
