aoogbonn
I am wondering how other PAs get refamiliar with with clinical treatments after working in surgery for a long time. I am currently working strictly in surgery and I would like to change to an ER or urgent care specialty in a few years. No need to mention that I limited my self right after school because several colleagues that came before me made that exact transition. I'm mainly asking for advice on the transition and how hard it is to relearn clinical treatments/ emergency medicine approaches. Should I be doing something about it now. Guest Paula
Do you have an opportunity to pick up a part-time job in UC? That may be a place to start seeing sick and not so sick patients and get familiar with treatments, s/sx, ddx and medications. Then when comfortable with that can move on to EM...or you could apply for an EM residency.
gbrothers98
There are the EM bootcamps designed to focus on this. Can attend or stream. Also ACEP is starting the EM academy, a 3 part series covering the spectrum of EM for PAs starting or entering. Last SEMPA recent conf in NOLA is recorded for purchase. quarternote
what about checking out the Hippo PA guys if you don't want to go to a bootcamp. I believe they have an EM course as well as a PA board review. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
