This is essentially part two of an earlier article (link noted in first sentence of new article).  Most of the comments regarding PAs (and NPs) were cordial, several not so much.

Some call into question the deficit. 

 

They predict the deficit of primary care MDs is around 16-32k in 2025. With NUMEROUS vetted citations to support that. I believe AAPA has even published some agreement with this figure. 

 

The number of new PA and NP programs can EASILY fill that gap. Not to mention MD program expansions. 

 

Over 200 programs and many of them are filling seats to increase the income of failing Universities. 

 

The gap in undeserved primary care is not going to change unless work conditions improve OR saturation becomes so intense that is the only job available.
