BonePA
I recently graduated and passed the PANCE exam. It is extremely difficult for me to find a job in southern California. However, my friend who is an orthopedic surgeon (graduated from residency 2 years ago) is willing to train me. He is willing to allow me to keep my 1st assisting fee that I generate. I will be in surgery with with him 3 days a week doing roughly about 4-5 surgery a day and 2 days of clinic from 9-6. Most of his cases are total knee replacement, shoulder scopes, and shoulder repair. He said that I will be able to keep up to $100K of what I generate, and after the 100K he will give me a certain percentage. I figure this is a "good" deal because he's willing to TRAIN me and allow me to keep what I generate up to 100K. Technically he is not paying me money out of his own pocket, he can't afford a PA but is willing to do this as a "favor" for me. Sorry in advance if these are stupid questions. My question is: 1) How much can a PA bill for 1st assisting fee/ consult fee? Is it 85% for both? 2) Is it possible to hit the $100k my first year? 3) What is a fair percentage of what I bill after 100K that I can keep?
