poeriog1
The school that I am thinking of attending has clinical rotations in Family Medicine Family Medicine II Internal Medicine Pediatrics Psychiatry Surgery Women's Health Emergency Medicine Elective I think that I want to go into either dermatology or orthopedics, however there is only one elective. Is is possible to get a job after graduation without doing a clinical rotation in that area. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you! primadonna22274
Do your surgery rotation in ortho and a derm elective...problem solved. But yes, you can get a job in something you haven't experienced in school...it just may be easier if you have had a crack at it (and know that you like it an have an aptitude for it BEFORE committing to the job). eddoc
The ARC standard requires that the surgery rotation be done in "general surgery" and ortho will not fulfill that requirement. Some programs will let you split your elective into two parts which might be an option. See how much you like surgery vs medicine overall and let that guide your choice.
