bellapac
I am starting a position at a government facility that covers its employees under FTCA. I am wondering if I should still look for my own individual policy. Do others out there who are covered under FTCA have additional coverage? Is it necessary? Pros and cons of FTCA? EricZ
Did you ever find anything helpful out about this question? I'm in the same situation and wondering the same thing.
rpackelly
Only if you work outside the FTCA facility. If you are covered by FTCA you cannot be individually named nor are you individually liable. Carrying your own insurance would just lead to you being named (although it would probably be dropped) but you would still have that on your record. No individual insurance=no plaintiff’s attorney interest in you. This should not be construed as legal advice but, if you are covered by a good policy (and FTCA is the best of the best) adding more insurance on your own just insures that you will be a named defendant if anything happens. Save money for legal license defense on your own.
