Anyone have any experience in the HRSA Student to Service (S2S) Program?

Recommended Posts

Hi, all!

I was recently awarded the HRSA S2S repayment program which I am so grateful for! I know most of the pros and cons of the program (similar to the general HRSA program you can apply to during your first year of school). I know I can opt out before May 1, 2024 but I think I will stick it through as primary care is where I see myself long term and my school is located in an underserved area that I would love to work in.

I have general questions given I am not the smartest when it comes to legal jargon in the contract so if anyone has done this program in the past (or currently) any help is super appreciated! I'm sure some of these seem very basic but I am trying to cover all of my bases ◡̈

- I know you have 6 months after graduation to find a job. I assume this mean's your program's official graduation date and not the date you walk (walking in May, official graduation August 30th).

- If my specialty says "pediatrics" (unsure why) can I still apply to basic adult primary care?

-  Is anyone able to explain the Private Practice Option (PPO) of the contract?

Thanks so much!
