fuma102
The Society of Point of Care Ultrasound (SPOCUS), an AAPA constituent organization, is excited to once again bring iScan to PA students for free! iScan22 is our annual ultrasound-centric educational event for students, and is set to take place in-person on Monday, May 23, 2022, at the beautiful Indianapolis ArtsGarden, two blocks away from the Convention Center. Don't learn much ultrasound at your program? Students didn’t review the pre-course beforehand? Not super sono savvy? First years just got on campus last week but are interested? No worries! iScan is meant to be fun medu-tainment with a chance to interact with inspiring sono-savvy PA pros who will teach students that they, too, can learn ultrasound. Its meant to be fun, interactive, educational, and inspirational. Winner of the 2019 and 2021 AAPA Constituent Organization award for Advancing the PA Identity, the iScan Ultrasound event is wildly popular among PA students with 95% of participants recommending recurring incorporation into future AAPA conferences and finding the event highly educational. This hands-on medical education event will feature teams from across the country rotating round-robin style and performing point-of-care ultrasound at each station. Students will learn about and perform different POCUS applications while being quizzed on clinical knowledge and pertinent image interpretation. Past topics include ultrasound basics, cardiac, vascular, abdominal, trauma, eFAST, lung, and aorta (but don't be shocked if we throw in a few bonus surprises outside these topics!). Students can expect to be asked to interpret clips, provide suggestions on how to improve images, and integrate information into a clinical scenario. Pre-competition information and optional study materials will be sent out after registration Other FAQs: -There is NO CHARGE for iScan2022, but spots are limited! (we're about 75% filled) -Teams can be up to 5 learners. Be aware that while we are trying to secure volunteer models, we may have to ask each team to model for each other (ie, be scanned by your teammates) -Only have one or two students interested? We are willing to have individuals combine forces to form a team as we don't want to leave anyone out! -yes, you'll be out in time for challenge bowl, as the event will be from 930a-1p, or until 3pm if you make it to the finals!
