GatorKev
I wanted to know if anyone out there was starting cases by doing the surgical exposure for the surgeon before he was in the room. My SP and I discussed that I could possibly start opening our total knee and total hip cases before he comes in the room. Does anyone else have any experience with this, or thoughts? icthus13
I've heard of it, but around here at least it is Not Done. None of the other PA's even in other specialties open at my hospital as far as I am aware. I definitely think my SP would laugh if I mentioned it. 1ORTHOPA
I only know of one PA that actually does this and it's only on total knees. He will also start knee/shoulder scopes where he positions the patient, and drapes, sets up, and places the scope into the joint and waits for the doc.
