maxwohl
Asking for a friend, who is applying for a license to practice medicine as a physician assistant in North Carolina: If, in answer to the application question as to whether he has a mental health condition that "in any way limits or impairs or, if untreated, could limit or impair [his] ability to practice medicine in a competent or professional manner," he discloses a diagnosis of bipolar disorder that predates the time period in question (5 years ago to present) and has been stably and continuously treated without any episodes during that period, how readily can the board access his medical records? Would they request complete records from every provider he's seen in the past years, or just an assessment from the current provider? Have any of you had personal experience with disclosing a chronic mental illness as a provider in NC?
