Eking001
I graduate in 3.5 months and I have my very first job interview tomorrow and I know the question regarding salary may come up and If it does, I only have a general idea of what to ask for. I don't want to low ball myself and I don't want to ask for too much and turn the doctors that are interviewing me off... So as a new grad in Colorado at an ENT practice or in general for any specialty, what is a fair salary to ask for? I was thinking of saying 85-95k/yr and mentioning negotiating, but really, I have no idea. Any fellow PAs in Colorado have any advice?I go to school in Chicago where new grads make almost 100k so I have no one to ask out here haha. Thank you! Arthropathy
I doubt salary will even come up in a first interview. If it does just ask what they are offering. Dont be the first to give a number, and don't ever give a range because they will come back with the lower end of the range. And when they do give you a number just nod and change the subject. There will be a time for negotiation and it's not at the first interview. If they say "we start all our PAs at $xx, just note the number and move on with the conversation. There are more important details than salary and you can negotiate that point once you have a provisional job offer.

After reading more on the forum it does sound like it usually isn't brought up on the first interview, so that's a relief.
Eking001
The organizations fixed the salary and compensation benefits for new grads. So they do have authority to reduce but cannot increase it for any candidate. It is a private practice so there is room for negotiation.
