Torshi
Can this be done? Waiver? I know most enlisted and even officers are disqualified, are there any exceptions for possible waiver regarding joining the medical corps of the Ntl. Guard as a PA-C? Deg22
Hypertension in and of itself is not a disqualifying condition for enlistment or appointment per Army Regulation 40-501. Provided it is controlled, I don't think it would be a problem or require a waiver. There are several associated conditions however that would bar you from service. I would recommend reviewing chapter 2 of AR 40-501, you will need to be intimately familiar with it if you do decide to join. One catch-all in the reference that could theoretically be an issue: Any condition that in the opinion of the examining medical officer will significantly interfere with the successful performance of military duty or training (796) may be a cause for rejection for appointment, enlistment, and induction. Doubtful though, I have several Soldiers on long term combination therapy who have no issues.
