  1. Hello again, paadmissions. I notice that some schools recommend that prerequisite classes should be taken no more than 5 years ago, while others outright state that strong preference would be given to applicants who have taken these classes within the past 5 years. While I do know that different programs may have different definitions, but how would you calculate this "5 years" time frame. I took a few of my prerequisites back in Spring 2008 and would be applying by 2013. So if I do get accepted, I'll only be attending by 2014, which would be 6 years from the time I've taken my prereqs. So basically, 1) How much of a "stickler" are you guys with this 5-year rule and 2) Is the "5 years" defined from the time I apply for programs, or from the time I would actually start attending the program? Thank you very much for taking the time to help us again!
  2. Hi paadmissions. Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. I have a question of my own that has been bothering me a lot. Is it a big deal if I got a C- for the third class of a 3-classes biochem sequence if I did well for my General chem and organic chem? I'm worried because I notice some schools are willing to accept biochem sequence(although they also accept g-chem, as an either-or prereq for chemistry), and since you don't get to indicate which classes you're using to fulfill the prereqs per se, then theoretically speaking, they could say "Oh look, this person has a C- in a biochem class, which could be regarded as a prereq. Guess we won't be taking this applicant into consideration anymore." Is this a possible scenario, or am I worrying too much? Thank you again for your input.
  3. Ah, I see. Now I can better understand where I stand. Thank you so much for your help!

  5. Sorry, but how does CASPA calculate undergrad cGPA? I read https://portal.caspaonline.org/applicants2011/faq/gpas.htm , and my understanding is that lower div classes that I've taken in community college(before transferring into a 4 year university) count towards the undergrad cGPA. Did I get that right? Thank you for your help.
