treblejig
Do you think it's appropriate in a supplemental app to indicate that the school is my first choice? Especially if it's true?
winterallsummer
No don't put that. Just put all the reasons it is your first choice school. IMHO putting "this is my first choice school" is a bit tacky for your essay. May be appropriate to say in the interview (although still eh). Better to focus on concrete reasons (including practical) of WHY you want to go there.
treblejig
I did feel a little uneasy it, I'm so glad I asked. Thanks!
Andreasmo
Make sure you also add into your supplemental apps how you fit in with their programs. You can emphasize how much you want to go to school by showing you know about the program and that you are the type of candidate they are looking for. treblejig
Thanks for the reminder. The supplemental apps are almost as hard as the personal statement-trying to decide what to put in and what to leave out.
asusundevil1
I disagree. I applied to a lot of schools and the surgical program at UAB was my number 1. I said it in my supplemental application and again during the interview. While I was rejected from quite a few of those other programs, I was quickly interviewed and accepted at UAB. I made sure that their admissions committee knew that if they selected me, I would commit to them. It definitely paid off and I can't wait to start classes in August! sstrell1
I talked to the admissions director of my first choice school last year. They didn't have a supplemental app, but she told me to write a letter of interest about their program and they would put it in my file. I put that I was the most interested in their program, but I also highlighted what made the program stand out to me and how I would be an asset. I got in and will start this summer. I don't think marking that a school is your first choice is a bad thing at all.
treblejig
Well, that's two votes for and one against. I did put that it was my first choice, because it's true and it made it easier to answer the question. I am driving myself crazy with the supplemental app and just want to get it done and sent. loliz
It probably depends on the prompt question. If they ask why you are a good fit, definitely appropriate; if they ask why you want to be a PA, definitely inappropriate.
treblejig
I think I got it right. Thanks for your input.
