JL9285
I would like to do my elective rotation in plastic surgery, and have few resources to contact as preceptors. I think that there is both a surgery and derm component in this rotation Amd I'm also interested in going into plastic/reconstructive surgery when all is said and done. I do worry that this branch of medicine may be frowned upon but it IS what I want to do. Has anyone done a plastics rotation ??!
myironlung
why so hot on plastics?
greenmood
A couple of students in my class did a plastics rotation and seemed to like it. They had to do a lot of legwork to get it set up though, as it's certainly not a core. Try calling some doctors.
eliyoussefi
I did one, it was one of my best!! Lots of hands on suturing, emphasis on knowing all of your anatomy and I use the knowledge every day with lacs, biopsies and other procedures. Andrea85
LOVED it! I did my plastics elective at Mayo Clinic and it was amazing. Sure there are boob jobs and facelifts, but there are also flaps galore, Ca reconstructions, and all KINDS of weird stuff that general surgeons don't/won't do. Mine was hardly a cosmetic focus and it was amazing. Anyone who thinks you're shallow for liking it can shove it.
