Someone need to put a clause into the medicaid rules regarding personal responsibility! Just stick it in and then when it passes everyone can read the bill, and then we will know what is in it and then enforce personal responsibility. :;;D: Also: to physst: The whole system is broken. It is appalling that physician offices would turn away a patient who came to their appointment. There is no creative thinking going on in those offices. The patient could have been sent to the urgent care for the PA to take care of them. Or they could have found another provider in the clinic with an open slot to see the patient. Where is compassion these days? (One needs compassion for the right person in the right situation, not for those who manipulate and abuse the system, often we are able to tell the difference). The clinic could have referred the patient to the local Walgreen's or Minute Clinic too.

There has to be some limits to stop abuse. In NC, there is a $3 copay for adults (children are still free) and a limit of 22 visits to a doctor's office per year....

Yes, unfortunately 95% of my Medicaid pts know that they must still be seen even if they cant pay their $3 which makes it pretty much pointless.
