Being a PA is a pretty good gig. It can be what you make of it; good lateral mobility, interesting cases, gratifying at times, yada yada. Yeah there are groans of discontent in every career field, but keep this in mind: I'll bet you could find a zoologist who checks elephant prostates all day who LOVES and ADORES his job. Find something you dig, be good at it, be happy.

What sort of jobs are there that pays six figures does not require hoop jumping?

Imaging specialist as a biomedical engineering technologist ( can make a $120k, with an associates degree and 6 years experience).

On a note, not to change the subject, I have to worry about third partying outsourcing and bouncing of my annual income all the time.

I was told the same thing this gentleman was told, in regards to being a PA, but he worked for a grumpy neuro surgeon. I am not looking at this field and it's salary "If I was I would probably be happier doing a MSTP.", I like the fact that you can transition as a PA to different areas of healthcare and not too many careers can say that.

Question though, I thought and have heard that more focus will be put on primary care than all the specialties we see now?

We going the route of the Canadian government with healthcare?

Care to cite your source?

I've got one that suggests "crank" is working from a lousy source: mine is a good one - the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. http://www.bls.gov/ooh/Healthcare/Physician-assistants.htm

It says, in part...

Job Outlook

"Employment of physician assistants is expected to increase 30 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations. As more physicians enter specialty areas of medicine, there will be a greater need for primary healthcare providers, such as physician assistants."
