Important Legislation for PAs . . . Act Now

Recommended Posts

Here is a note from from the WAPA. If you live in Washington or have relatives here (or other interest) please write each of these senators!

The bill that WAPA has sent before the legislature to modernize PA practice laws in Washington State has made it through the House but is sitting in the Rules committee in the Senate.

This bill, SHB 1737 would increase the number of PAs a physician could supervise from 3 to 5, but still allows the physician to request more if they petition their respective board. It also allows the physician to supervise their PA in remote sites by using telecommunication (skype, video-conferencing, etc.) instead of physically traveling to the site 10% of the time; freeing up time for them to see patients and allowing for more instantaneous consultation for the PA.

If SHB 1737 remains in the Rules committee past April 17th, it will die and we will need to start all over next year. Please contact the following Senators on the Rules committee, and ask that they pull the bill out of Rules and allow the full Senate to vote on it. Ask your own Senator to approve the bill when it makes it to the floor.
