clarefd Posted March 10, 2013 I had such a great shadowing experience yesterday that I feel a need to share it - can't talk about my new life as a PA student until I formally resign from my job as a pastor after Easter. I'm starting in the new University of the Sciences program in August, and they suggested I get more shadowing hours before the program begins. I've had some good shadowing experiences, but this one was incredible. Big teaching hospital ER, and everyone from the attending on down made me feel welcome and encouraged me. Lots of interesting stuff going on, even on a slow Saturday morning. It was very interesting to watch the interactions between the first, second, and third year residents with each other and with the attending, and of course, how much respect they had for the nursing staff. Everyone was so patient and helpful - the attending even printed out her schedule for the next two months and told me to come anytime. I did know a couple of people in the ER from my frequent trips there as a spiritual care-giver, so I wasn't a stranger, and I do know how to mind my manners - but it was just a terrific day. When I started on this path four years ago, slogging through all those science postbacc courses, I never thought I'd ever actually be introduced as "One of our PA students".
