sunshyne Posted February 27, 2013 I was recently invited to interview with R.I.T and can't find much information in regards to past students/current and general information about the program. Any current or past Physician assistant students out there willing to give me a little insight about R.I.T's program?
sartort Posted February 27, 2013 You will probably get to talk to students at the interview. At all of my interviews there were times when applicants could ask questions of current students without any of the faculty around.
CCPA Posted February 27, 2013 The first class to graduate was in 1995. I was in the second in 1996. They were still getting some of the kinks worked out at that point. I'm sure a lot has changed about the program over the years, so I'm probably not the right person to give first hand experience at this point, but my personal experience was a good one. I believe it has recently changed from a four year bachelors to a five year BS/MS. I felt well prepared for the boards. From looking at their data posted, on average, 93% pass on the first try. I have precepted students from there over the years, but have not in quite a while. The director and associate director have been there since the program started, which I think says something. There is a great deal of general information available at the links below. http://www.rit.edu/programs/physician-assistant-bs http://www.rit.edu/healthsciences/graduate-programs/physician-assistant
sunshyne Posted March 1, 2013 Author CCPA-Thanks for the info. about RIT and thank you for the provided links. Can you tell me how big the classes were when you entered the professional phase of the program? Also, what was the teacher student ratio?
CCPA Posted March 4, 2013 I believe there were 25 students in my class. The number of instructors varied. One course such as pathophys had one instructor the whole year. The clinical medicine courses would have a different instructor with each topic.
