flyingsquirrel Posted February 17, 2013 I know that I will be keeping procedure logs for my clinical rotations, but I'm still working part time as a critical care paramedic…should I be documenting my non-school procedures (intubations, US, a-lines, etc)? Will these help me get credentialed faster for these procedures? What information do I need? Should I go back and try to retroactively document everything I've done over the past few years? Thanks
FriarMedic Posted February 17, 2013 I'm per diem at my paramedic job still but before I left full time I got a print off tally of procedures I had done over the last 3 years (intubations, glide scope intubations, IV's, med administrations, ect). I figure it can't hurt to have this information and possibly speed up credentialing post graduation. If you do electronic charting at your job see if the system you're using allows you to run a report of your procedures. If so, its simple and will take you 30 seconds.
Moderator EMEDPA Posted February 17, 2013 Moderator yes, definitely keep those logs. I had to use my medic intubation logs to get privileged at a prior job.
flyingsquirrel Posted February 17, 2013 Author Do I just need date and procedure or do they need to be verified by someone?
Moderator EMEDPA Posted February 17, 2013 Moderator date/procedure/location(if hospital, otherwise "als field procedure, AMR ambulance dallas, tx.", etc would be ok verified would be great but not necessary. I actually kept copies of charts but removed pts identifying info. I still have a folder with ems procedures/charts from 20+ years ago. today I keep copies of the dictations of cool cases/procedures such as codes/traumas/od's, etc
