martinitosnl Posted February 4, 2013 New Grad in in Texas. $58+ hr with 40-45 hours average benefits included 4.5 weeks vacation and cme included in Peds OR $95k Salary for Family Medicine for 40 hour weeks plus benefits No call I like the family medicine more but the pay is substantially different, so I'm just wondering opinions
rcdavis Posted February 4, 2013 Peds is at least 30k more/yr than the FP if you include the paid vaca and the FP has none ( you listed noe). BOTH are phenomenal for a new grad. Comes down to career path.. Strict Peds or FP? Which will teach you? Which do you REALLY like. If all things are equal, and they never are, go with the money. Otherwise, at this stage of your career 95k plus nenes is one hell of a deal.
mdebord Posted February 4, 2013 Both are great offers! At this point, the more well-rounded experience you'd get in Family Practice would probably further your career in the long run. All the money these days is going towards chronic care, and if you learn how to do the coding dance that makes you valuable.
