The stress is really getting to me!

Ummm stress of what? Stress of waiting to hear for an interview??

If that's how you measure stress, you may want to reconsider your career choice, as that part of the process, along with the interview is the least stressful.

If you get in, you will have a whole new respect and definition for the word stress, especially during the first two quarters.

Relax, chill, enjoy the process and above all, be prepared.

Good Luck.

Perhaps they meant the stress of not knowing. I can understand that. But you're right its nothing compared to what's ahead if they get in.

How about not knowing if my entire life is about to drastically change? Getting into this program means working harder than I've ever had to work in my life. It will be the biggest challenge my mariage has ever faced. I will be massively in debt. Is it worth it? 100%! Am i excited? Very. However, not only do I not know if this will happen, I don't have the faintest clue as to when I'll find out. And I have zero control over the situation. So yeah, I'd say stressed is a fair description. Just because this is the easiest part doesn't mean the stress isn't there.

I sent a email to check on the progress. From what I was told letters are being sent out Tues. So good luck to everyone who is waiting....

From what I remember last year... Letters were sent in batches... So even though some people have already gotten their invitation for validation already doesn't mean that only those individuals were invited... Just got to wait for the mailman to put your letter in your mailbox :)

Actually, you have a lot of control of the situation, as I will explain.

I understand that you feel that way and it can seem stressful and you don't know. I will try to illustrate this in a way that is respectful of your feelings but also gives you some insight into what this program is about.

A key to this program, and probably many others, is being able to manage the huge volumes of information that come at you every day. This requires not only hard work but a sense of detachment that will enable you to stay calm and focused, esp. during the huge number of exams that you will be taking, as failing those will get you kicked out.

Calm and focused.

Calm and focused enables you to think through problems and frees up your brain to do it’s job. Your brain has a much harder job to do when it has to decide weather to flee or kick some a$$.

How to stay calm and focused?

Prepare to the fullest. Do everything in your power to know what you need to know, how ever you accomplish that, then let the chips fall where they may, secure in the knowledge that you did as much as humanly possible and could not have done anything more.

So if you want the interview, you make sure everything is as perfect is it can be on the app, however long it takes. GPA, LORs, Statement etc ( it took me over 6 months to get all that stuff in the shape I wanted it, in addition to working real hard for a high GPA and many hours of HCE). Now you may still be a little nervous, and I was, however you know without a doubt that everything is as perfect as it could have been.

If you get the interview, prepare to the fullest. This means practicing responses out loud and think of everything that may be asked in addition to all the other things. Ad-com members are surprised every year at the lack of preparation that come from applicants.

Then you know, absolutely, that you’re ready.

Stress and nerves are minimized.

Then when you get in, repeat all the above.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice bgdog, and for being respectful. Properly preparing for my interview aside, the next month will be stressful because it's mostly about waiting. That's what I meant about not having control- I can't make a letter arrive on demand. And a lot rides on those letters! Didn't mean to start a big thing, just felt the need to defend a very legit post that got the poster ripped to shreds.

I still haven't heard anything either way at this point. Not sure if that is good or bad, but I haven't heard "No" so I guess there still is a chance. Good luck to everyone else who has their interviews.
