PAmomof3
Hello Of course I am planning on applying to both schools (Western and Wayne). I would just like to know, in your opinion, why did you choose Western Michigan University? How is Western Michigan University's PA program (the good, the bad....). It seems like in doing the research that Western has better test scores on the PANCE. However, it seems that because Wayne State is by the medical center in Detroit, that more job opportunities are there. Feedback is appreciated. npovrpa
They have higher scores because if you dont cut the mustard in their program you will be dismissed; period. No assistance, no extra semesters, no deceleration (which is required by accrediting committees). WMU claims to have deceleration but they do not; verify WMU definition with accrediting agency's definition. Don't be fooled by the scores on the PANCE. The minimum score to pass the things is really low. WMU is run like a boot camp. If you speak your mind you WILL be punished. Rumored that predominantly males are dismissed and predominantly females are admitted and graduate. Past students have hired attorneys to face the program head on over dismissal and program policy. Probably more than any other program at WMU. Don't know much about Wayne. Rumor at he med school is you will be divorced if you are married while attending. Lots of good docs come from there. As far as jobs. No one cares where you went to school; the PA-C is all your employers want. If you have a bachelors go get your RN then NP; education is much better.
